Imbolc Celebration

01.02.2026

Hi everyone,

Imbolc is here, and I decided to do a small ritual to welcome it

If you are not familiar with Imbolc, let me explain it really quickly. It’s a pagan holiday celebrated at the beginning of February. In Celtic tradition, Imbolc marks the beginning of spring. It’s actually freezing outside here in Poland, so it feels quite funny to say that — but I see Imbolc as inviting the light and sunny days back, even before actual spring truly arrives.

For my little ritual, I focused on simplicity and intention. I used a white candle for light and renewal, a black candle to release what no longer serves me, a few crystals for grounding and clarity, and moon water I prepared during beautiful full moon the night earlier, to gently cleanse the space and mind.

I took a moment to reflect on the past winter months — what felt heavy, what I want to leave behind — and then set a clear intention for the coming weeks. Not big resolutions, just small sparks of warmth, creativity, and growth.

I also lit white sage incense and cleansed each room by gently letting the smoke flow through the space.

I made sure to use every element in this ritual. Fire - by burning the candles, Water - in this case moon water, Earth - the crystals, and finally Air - the smoke from my incense.

Imbolc feels quiet and subtle to me. It’s not about any instant change, but about the first idea of it. Like light slowly returning, even if you can’t feel its warmth yet.

Happy Imbolc! May this season bring you a little more light each day.
